Ford’s Bloom-Banks Matrix:A No-Excuse Model for Insuring Curriculum Rigor and Relevance
When it comes to teaching advanced learners, teachers utilize gifted training methods and materials to challenge them. Differentiation is one widely used strategy. However, less attention is devoted to teaching all students, but especially minoritized students, who need and want rigor/challenge AND cultural relevance (R+R) in curriculum and literature/books.  In this session, I discuss my Bloom-Banks’ Matrix, the only model focused on both (R+R). Recommendations for modifying current lesson plans are shared, along with sample matrices and my recent book of Matrices for P-3 gifted and talented Black boys.
