Honoring Community Ways of Knowing and Being: Toward Culturally Sustaining Pedagogies

During this session, the presenter will highlight pedagogies that affirm student’s identities, communities, families, and experiences. The presenter will introduce the importance and main tenets of Paris and Alim’s Culturally Sustaining Pedagogies, as well as, make connections to Transformative Social Emotional Learning. After participants discuss promising practices currently employed, the presenter will share classroom examples and resources to support equitable access to curricula. Participants will identify strategies and resources to implement.
